Long-time dream becomes reality – Welcome Center and Mercado nears completion

The momentum continues to grow as Southwest Detroit’s premier retail and office development nears completion. We celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the Mexicantown International Welcome Center and Mercado and prepare to lease the retail spaces and offices that will bring it to life.
This year we anticipate two million visitors to Mexicantown. The new facility allows local merchants to highlight Latino culture and sell imported and handcrafted merchandise to area shoppers and residents.
The new offices will house an entrepreneurial training suite for classes in entrepreneurship and business plan development.

Next year’s schedule of cultural events and open-air performances will add to the atmosphere of the newest gathering place for travelers and local residents right in the heart of Mexicantown.
